Letter From the Publisher
Here we go again, welcoming a New Year, celebrating life and our blessed time on this beautiful planet. The years seem to pass swifter than ever. Maybe that’s natural as we mature, but it might also seem so because of the harried cyberspace environment we live in. While high tech has its advantages, it also tends to diminish personal contact with friends and family and to decrease the healthy tendency to live fully in the moment. We multi-task through our days, disregarding the world’s natural, more essential aspects. Among this New Year’s resolutions, consider a focus on balancing connections between nature and technology.
For more brainstorming on resolutions that can help reap rewards of a greener, healthier lifestyle, see our Green Living feature this month, "Ever-More-Green in 2014" (page 34). Writer Avery Mack offers thought provoking suggestions for timely adoption of small, doable and eco-friendly lifestyle changes.
The year two-thousand-fourteen marks Natural Awakenings’ 20th year of service to the natural health community. In those two decades this free community magazine has continuously offered cutting edge insight on natural health, nutrition, fitness, personal growth, green living, creative expression and the products and services that support a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Natural Awakenings Tampa Bay has been on board nearly that long, marking our 13th anniversary this past October. Our sincere appreciation goes out to the loving founders of this important, life supporting publication.
Have a Happy New Year! As always, open your mind and read on.
