Permanent Makeup and Microneedling: Give yourself timeless beauty!

What exactly is Permanent Makeup? It is a revolutionary method of applying natural pigments into the dermal layer of the skin. Permanent Makeup is considered micro-pigmentation, just like body tattooing. It is used for a variety of cosmetic enhancements, such as eyebrows, eyeliner, lipliner, lip color, scar camouflage, areola restoration, scalp pigmentation, hairline enhancement, beauty spots, etc.
At my studio, I use quiet running state-of-the-art European digital devices offering the highest level of safety and comfort. My devices are completely hygienic, exceed government regulations (no risk of injury, contamination or infection), and give optimal results (beautiful and accurate) following application. There is minimal discomfort to the patient (due to optimal needle settings) and best technical performance, allowing for faster procedures and much less recovery time.
How are the pigments placed? The Permanent Makeup device is embedding pigments beneath the skin to add permanent color. This device punctures the skin with very thin needles which push the pigments into the desired location. This type of tattooing can also be used as a medical restoration as it can cover imperfections in the skin.
Having Permanent Make-up done is generally very safe, as long as performed by a skilled, trained and licensed professional. Procedures are done after applying a general anesthetic to the desired areas before and during treatment. Usually there is a touch-up appointment one month after the initial procedure. Most of the time, clients are a little bit apprehensive at the first appointment, and choose to start with a light application. It is easier to add darker pigment onto a tattoo than to take it away.
At touch-up time, my clients generally decide to go darker or thicker. I strongly recommend scheduling a touch-up appointment after the first procedure. Most of the time, clients decide to come in every two years to freshen up their permanent make-up, while some wait longer.
The many areas permanent makeup can address include:
Lashes that are naturally too fair/faint in color
Sparse or missing lashes
Sparse or missing eyebrows Reduction or elimination of daily makeup application
Eye conditions which prevent or inhibit effective use of traditional makeup
Making easier an active lifestyle, e.g. swimming, water sports, hiking, hot yoga, etc.
Unsteady hands which prevent ease of makeup application
Elimination of smudging, smearing, running makeup products (no more raccoon eyes)
Elimination of adverse reactions to certain cosmetic products and/or ingredients
Correction or improvement in certain skin conditions, abnormalities or imperfections (genetic or medical)
When considering a procedure, do not choose primarily based on price. Just because it is cheap(er) does not mean it is as good. Permanent makeup is just that, permanent. For those who are interested in having it done, it is recommended to do your homework. Don’t just go to anyone. First and most asked question is, “How much do you charge?” when it really should be, “What are your qualifications? or “May I see some before and after pictures?”
The price for permanent makeup varies from $250 to $450 per procedure, depending on what you want. Cheap permanent makeup prices often mean poor quality. But do not worry, I actually do a lot of corrections on clients who unfortunately chose to go the cheap route first, and now come to see me, to fix other technicians’ work. Corrections are not easy or cheap. Sometimes, it takes several visits.
Most clients do not want drastic eyebrows or eyeliners. If you are thinking of getting a more trendy style, remember, it is permanently tattooed. Most of my clients choose the hair stroke eyebrow over solid filled brows. The hair stroke is also known as a hair simulation technique, which creates the most natural brows possible. For a fuller brow, the powder technique eyebrow would be the best choice. This technique mimics the appearance of a more conventional brow.
Besides permanent make-up, I also offer a procedure called Microneedling. Let’s talk about our skin for a minute. As we age, our own internal collagen production decreases rapidly after 25. Collagen is a natural protein which gives our skin its firmness and elasticity, making it appear taut. However, over time, environmental factors such as smoking, sun exposure, and other lifestyle choices contribute to premature aging, which further causes a decrease in collagen synthesis. As a result, lines, wrinkles and age spots become more apparent, revealing what we know as “natural signs of aging”.
Essentially, Microneedling is a form of collagen-induction therapy, which takes advantage of your body’s own natural collagen-production abilities, to rejuvenate your skin. This procedure is minimally invasive, usually taking 90 minutes or less, and triggers the body into producing new collagen, fibers and elastin in an effort to repair itself. New capillaries will also form, thereby improving blood circulation in the skin, resulting in healthier skin by breaking up fibrous and uneven tissue, which are visible to us as wrinkles or scars.
Microneedling causes minimal damage to the skin, unlike other more traditional methods, like microdermabrasion, chemical peels or laser treatments. Depending on the condition of the skin as well as the age of the patient, three to four treatments (usually four to six weeks apart) may typically be necessary. Any part of the body covered by skin can normally be treated. However, some restrictions may apply, which are usually discussed at the initial screening consult, to determine appropriate course of treatment most suitable for a given candidate.
